PURPOSE:In a multiplied microorganism immobilized to a carrier, to prepare a carrier having improved air permeability and diffusion of culture solution, by immobilizing a microorganism to a carrier consisting of a reticulate cloth reinforced with a polymer. CONSTITUTION:In the first method, a reticulate cloth is previously impregnated with a vinyl polymerizable monomer, and the monomer is polymerized to give a reticulate cloth reinforced with a polymer as a carrier. The carrier is brought into contact with a liquid medium capable of multiplying a microorganism. In the second method, in a system wherein the vinyl polymerizable monomer and the microorganism are brought into contact with the reticulate cloth, the monomer is polymerized under a proper condition by an adequate method, to prepare the microorganism immobilized to the reticulate cloth reinforced with the polymer.
