A storage building (1) is divided into a plurality of spatially separated departments (I-IV), each department having shelves for receiving plant holders (3). Provided inside the storage building (1) is a transportation and transfer facility (7), which transports plant holders (3) from one of the departments to another. The plant holders (3) are designed identical to each other in so far as they comprise an installation-internally identical subframe and, placed upon this, a trough for receiving the plants, which trough is adapted in form and/or design to the plants. Control means effect the transfer of the plant holders from one department to the other in accordance with a preselected programme; the individual departments differ from each other in design as regards lighting, climate and humidity conditions. <IMAGE> |
