PURPOSE:To assure the mechanical strength of members and to improve the efficiency of recording/playback by constituting a high permeability magnetic core in such a manner that the decrease in the sectional area of sandwiching surfaces is compensated. CONSTITUTION:A deformed I-shaped member is obtd. by working aluminum titanium carbide, etc. to form a non-magnetic member 11a, polishing the right end face to a specular surface, forming a soft high permeability magnetic film by sputtering to the specular surface, working a nonmagnetic member 11 of the same material and adhering and fixing both members to sandwich a main magnetic pole 1 from the right and left with said member and the member 11a. The magnetic head body is enclosed by nonmagnetic materials 41a, 41b and 42a, 42b on the side faces of the magnetic circuit and are adhered and fixed to each other to form a slider 40. The head is subjected to lapping and polishing on the top surface by which the vertical magnetic recording/playback head is completed. The deformed I-shaped member consisting of the combination of the members 11a, 11b has the substantial width except the central part thereof and is therefore robust. The stable execution of the final polishing stage is made possible and the reliability of the finished product is high. |
