PURPOSE:To enable increasing of the output of the engine at high and low speeds of the engine rotation by providing a long hole at the tail end of the exhaust pipe inserted into a muffler cylinder, covering the outside of the long hole with a slide piece provided with a communication hole, and changing the substantial length of an exhaust pipe in mating with the change in the rotation of the internal combustion engine. CONSTITUTION:The tail end of an exhaust pipe 1 connected to the exhaust hole of the internal combustion engine is inserted into and connected to the front part of a muffler cylinder 2. A long hole 3 is formed at the front part inserted into the muffler cylinder 2 of the exhaust pipe 1, and is covered with a slide piece 5 provided with a communication hole 4. The slide piece 5 is made slidable in the longitudinal direction of the exhaust pipe 1 along a rail 6 provided in the exhaust pipe 1, and is actuated on the side of the tail end of the exhaust pipe 1 by means of a spring 7 and interlocked with a throttle lever or the like of the engine against a force exerted by the spring 7 by means of a boden wire 8. As a result, the communication hole 4 is moved frontwardly with the increase in the rotation of the engine, for example, and the substantial length of the exhaust pipe 1 is shortened to increase the output. |
