PURPOSE:To reduce the damage of a catalyst, by packing a reaction tube other than a reaction tube, from which particles are being withdrawn by air stream transport, with particles withdrawn from the lower end of a reaction tube and packing the reaction tube with a catalyst while particles are substituted with the catalyst. CONSTITUTION:The flow control valve 13 provided to the lower part of a reaction tube 4 is closed and a catalyst 7 is stagnated above glass beads 11. Next, the valve 13 is gradually opened to pack the reaction tube 4 with the catalyst 7 from the upper part of said reaction tube 4 with the falling of glass beads 11 while the glass beads 11 in the reaction tube 4 are flowed out from the lower part thereof. Because the particle size of the glass beads is smaller than the diameter of the openings of a catalyst receiver 8, said glass beads 11 pass through the catalyst receiver 8 to be flowed out to the outside of the reaction tube 4 from the flow control valve 13. The catalyst 7 is continuously supplied into the reaction tube 4 from the catalyst supply pipe 14 with the falling of the glass beads 11 in the reaction tube 4 to pack said reaction tube 4. |
