PURPOSE:To prevent a rotor from overrunning and to improve the stopping accuracy by releasing a brake when the rotor arrives at a low speed by the brake, and then again braking on a basis of a signal from position signal generating means. CONSTITUTION:A pedal 19 starts, stop and regulates the speed of a sewing machine, and its output is input to a controller 21. The controller 21 controls the operations of a motor M and a brake 3. A low speed rotation command is applied to the motor M by a stop command operation, the brake is engaged by the brake 3, and when the fact that the speed of the motor M arrives at the prescribed low speed is detected by a rotating speed detector 23, the brake is released. Then, the brake is again engaged by the brake 3 on the basis of the output of a pointer lower position detector 24 of position signal detecting means. |
