PURPOSE:To prevent failure of a cutter by judging if there is vibration derived from impact at the time of meshing due to abnormality in the cog part of a gear being finished during approach meshing rotation before cut-in finish processing for the gear to be finished, and by retracting the cutter according to judgment. CONSTITUTION:If there is bulge due to deformation, attachment of buried splash, and abnormal undercut at the cog part of a gear 14 to be finished 14, shocks are generated during meshing rotation, and the vibration resulting therefrom is transmitted to a cutter mounting shaft 2, front bearing 5, and front wall 6 through a shaving cutter 11, and further to a vibro-sensor 7 so as to amplify the voltage change at an amplifier 8, and the outcome is sent via a vibrational signal processing circuit 9 to a vibro-signal control circuit 10 for judgment if there is any abnormal vibration. That is, the line of setting values to represent the limit of vibration which does not cause damage to the shaving cutter is previously specified, and said judgment circuit 10 judges if abnormal vibration exceeding the set value has occurred, and if yes, a signal is emitted from this circuit 10 to retract the cutter mounting shaft in a machine control mechanism 13 at a high speed, and thereby meshing with the gear to be finished 14 is released to prevent occurrence of failure. |
