PURPOSE:To eliminate the need for a coating material and to reduce the cost of repair and service by upsetting the open part of a tundish upon completion of casting, placing the same on a supporting base so as to close said part, melting the slag sticking and penetrating to the tundish by the burner of the supporting table until the molten slag flows down thereby removing easily the slag. CONSTITUTION:The tundish 1 having the high inside surface temp. after the end of casting is turned upside down and the open part thereof is imposed on the supporting base 11. A long nozzle 2, a gate 5, an immersion nozzle 4, a stopper 3, etc. are removed in this stage. The inside surface of the tundish 1 is then heated by the gas burner 9 of the base 11 to melt the slag sticking and penetrating thereto until the molten slag flows down into a slag reservoir. The tundish is again upset after the removal of the slag and the slag line is repaired. The nozzle 4, the stopper 3, the gate 5 and the tundish cover 6 are set and the tundish is preheated and is made to standby. The slag removal is made easy, the number of the tundishes to be serviced is decreased and the cost of the repair and service is reduced. |
