PURPOSE:To prevent the materials for grinding and cleaning from splashing during grinding and cleaning and to make it possible to collect the used materials and to recycle them by providing a hopper for collecting them at the bottom of a dust proof hood of which opening is possible to be brought into contact close with the surface of a shell side plate, and providing a grinding and cleaning material injection nozzle in the hood. CONSTITUTION:After a grinding and cleaning unit A is put close to the side plate 1A of a shell 1, an air cylinder is actuated to change the facing of the frame 6 of a dust proof hood 7 bringing the frame 6 into contact with the side plate 1A and fitting a seal 15 to the side plate 1A. In this condition, the materials 2 for grinding and cleaning are injected from a grinding and cleaning material injection nozzle 9 so provided as to be lifted or swung freely in the dust proof hood 7 to the side plate 1A of the shell 1. At the same time, a plate is vertically moved by the drive motor vertically moving the nozzle 9 and also transferring the dust proof hood 7 horizontally in order according to the travel of high speed work truck 3 grinding and cleaning all the face of the side plate 1A. The used materials for grinding and cleaning fall down in the hopper 8 at the bottom of the dust proof hood and then are collected.
