PURPOSE:To observe a normal waveform without any misunderstanding by detecting an overflow if it occurs and performing proper data processing for waveform data, and erasing an overflow waveform part from a display. CONSTITUTION:An input signal 10 is converted by an AD converting circuit 2 into waveform data, which is written in a memory circuit 3. Then, the waveform data which is stored temporarily is read out by a read circuit 4 to obtain waveform data Da8, which is processed by an overflow circuit 5 to obtain waveform data Db9. A liquid-crystal display element 6 displays a waveform on a liquid-crystal display screen on the basis of Db9. When an over input is applied to the circuit 2, the output of the circuit 2 consists of all bits 0 or 1 according to the polarity of the input and the circuit 2 generates an overflow signal 7. This signal 7 is 1 when an overflow occurs state or 0 when not. Thus, data processing is carried out for an overflow waveform part in Da8 to obtain Db9, and the display is erased to obtain an erased waveform part.
