PURPOSE:To provide the titled ink remover consisting mainly of a specified hydrocarbon solvent and a surfactant and capable of readily removing ink only and preventing its redeposition without attacking the surface coat layer of a metal sheet. CONSTITUTION:The ink remover is prepared by blending (A) 10-95wt% hydrocarbon solvent with a boiling point of about 120-320 deg.C which has solvency action or solvating action on uncured thermosetting metalo printing ink (e.g. kerosine or gas oil), (B) 3-50wt% at least one surfactant selected from among nonionic, anionic, cationic and amphoteric surfactants capable of emulsifying, solubilizing or dispersing metal printing ink and component (A) (e.g. polyethylene glycol laurate) and, when necessary, (C) at most 70wt% water and (D) at most 10wt% at least one compd. selected from among acids, alkalis and salts thereof (e.g. polyphosphoric acid) and/or at most 30wt% at least one compd. selected from among higher fatty acids, aliphatic alcohols, ethylene glycol and polyhydric alcohols (e.g. oleic acid).
