PURPOSE:To increase electrode effect and to reduce he load on a cleaning device by providing a developer supplying means which supplied a developer from one of developer tanks to a developing container and then returns the developer to its original tank after the developer is used for development. CONSTITUTION:The developing container 28 is arranged nearby a photosensitive body 1 and a rotating body for development is put in the container. The developing container 28 is supplied with a developer selectively from a developer tank 29 containing a black developer, a developer tank 30 containing a magenta developer, a developer tank 31 containing a cyan developer, and a developer tank 45 containing a yellow developer. Scooping-up pumps 29a, 30a, 31a, and 45a are provided as developer supplying means to the respective developer tanks. Further, the developer tanks are provided with toner bottles 29b, 30b, 31b, and 45b which contain concentrated toner and solvent tanks 29c, 30c, 31c, and 45c which contain a solvent as a toner carrier. The developer supplied to the developing container 28 is returned to its original developer tank.
