PURPOSE:To provide a near field pattern (NFP) image having extremely good quality, by a light source apparatus capable of irradiating the incident terminal of the base material of an optical fiber with sufficiently excited light. CONSTITUTION:A reflective plate 4 is arranged behind a light source 2 and the light from the light source 2 is made parallel to be directed forwardly. Whitening filters 6, 6 are arranged in front of the light source 2 to sufficiently excite the parallel light. As each of these whitening filters 6, 6, for example, there is a light dispersing filter for a microscope. A main condensing lens 8, a parallel lens 10 and an auxiliary condensing lens 12 are arranged and light passed through the filters 6, 6 is directed to the incident terminal 14a of the base material 14 of the optical fiber arranged in faced relation to the light source apparatus 1. The auxiliary condensing lens 12 is provided in order to adjust the angle alpha/2 of incident light condensed to the core 14b of the base material 14 of the optical fiber from the light source apparatus 1 so as to make the same larger than the opening angle thetamax [number of openings thetamax=core refractive index X (2-specific refractive index difference)1/2] of the base material 14 of the optical fiber. |
