PURPOSE:The titled germicide for preventing continuously and stably deteriora tion of industrial materials and products caused by various microorganisms such as molds, etc., containing diiodomethyl-p-tolylsulfone and 2-methoxycarbonyl aminobenzimidazole as active ingredients. CONSTITUTION:The titled germicide comprising diiodomethyl-p-tolylsulfone shown by the formula I and 2- methoxycarbonylaminobenz-imidazole shown by the formula II in a weight ratio of the former to the latter of preferably 9:1-1:9, especially 2:1-1:5. The direct blend of the active ingredients is added to a target system of general industrial products such as paper and pulp products, coating compounds, building materials, etc. In some purposes for use, the blend is dispersed into a proper carrier, mixed with a soli-d carrier and processed into a formulation such as wettable powder, etc., and used. It may be blended with another germicide, insecticide, deterioration inhibitor, etc., and used.
