PURPOSE:To obtain light information with high reliability through small-sized constitution by using the aperture of an optical system without using any light shield plate, and passing luminous flux which is phase-modulated with an electrode line pattern through the aperture. CONSTITUTION:An LiNbO3 crystal 8, an optical waveguide 9, an electrode line 10, a slit 1, a lens 2, etc., are provided. When the X, Y, and Z directions in space are specified, laser light 7 polarized in the Z direction is guided to an optical waveguide layer 9 on the surface of the crystal 8. Further, several electrode lines 10 are arranged in the Z direction and every two lines forma pattern. Namely, every two electrode lines have end parts short-circuited. Therefore, a voltage is impressed between two lines to produce a leak electric field between the two lines and adjacent electrode lines 10 at both sides. Further, light 13 passed through the pattern of the electrode lines 10 is phase-modulated through electrooptic effect with a voltage impressed to the electrode lines 10. Thus, high-reliability light information is generated.
