PURPOSE:To provide a titled mold coating material which eliminates the need for high-grade facing sand by mixing Fe2O3, CaO, SiO2 uniformly with a mold coating material consisting of zircon flowers, mullite flowers, alumina flowers, etc. CONSTITUTION:A titled mold coating material prepd. by dispersing refractory particles of >=1 kind among zircon flowers, mullite flowers, alumina flowers, chamotte flowers, and chromite flowers in water or an org. solvent and adding Fe2O3, CaO, SiO2 simultaneously to the dispersion. In the stage of casting, the Fe2O3, CaO, SiO2 of the mold coating material react by the effect of the heat thereof and form low m.p. compds. which sinter with the base material for mold coating, thus forming dense and firm barrier films. Thus the intrusion of the decomposed gases of the org. binder into molds is inhibited and carburization and sulfurization are prevented. |
