PURPOSE:To detect the number of pulses of many incremental signals by converting the output signal of a resolver into an absolute signal which deviates by a specific value through a resolver signal/digital signal (R/D) converter and outputting it. CONSTITUTION:An exciting circuit 1 counts the output reference frequency of a transmitter 4 to excite the primary winding of the resolver which detects an angle of rotation at a frequency omegat. The R/D converter 3 converts the output signal of the resolver 2 into the absolute signal of an angle of one rotation Nbit (N: natural number), and the 1st - the (2M<+1>)th R/D converters output signals which deviate by 2<n>/2M<+1> (where (n) and M are natural numbers and N>=n). Then, the (nbit)th absolute signals of the 1st - the (2M<+1>)th R/D converters are inputted to 2M<+1>-2 EX.OR logical circuits to detect incremental signals. Thus, the number of pulses of the incremental signals which is 2M<+1> times is detected.
