PURPOSE:To obtain optical discs superior in optical characteristic by giving 10-100Angstrom surface roughness to the surface of a negative. CONSTITUTION:A photoresist 8 is applied to a glass original disc 7 and is subjected to laser exposure and development to form digital signals 9. The surface of the photoresist is roughness by ion bombard to form a rough photoresist film 13 having 10-100Angstrom surface roughness. A metallic thin film 14 consisting of Ni or the like is provided on the film 13, and an Ni plated layer 15 is provided. Thereafter, the glass original disc is removed to obtain a negative disc 16 for optical disc. The negative disc is attached to a forming mold and injection molding is performed with a resin consisting of a polycarbonate or the like. Since the surface roughness of the negative disc is high, namely, 10-100Angstrom , the resistance of friction between the surface of the negative disc and the resin is reduced to improve the fluidity of the resin, and the double- refractive index is improved, and apparent defects or the like due to irregular flow of the resin are difficult to occur.
