METHOD AND DEVICE FOR JOINING ROLLING MATERIAL

PURPOSE:To dig up the scale layers of joint surfaces and to join surely the solid surfaces to each other by superposing the front and rear ends to be joined of preceding and succeeding rolling materials on each other and sliding the ends to each other and joining the ends while press welding the ends in the high-temp. state. CONSTITUTION:The preceding rolling material 1 is stopped when the rear end 1a thereof comes below a press welding roll 4. The rear end 1a is lifted by a support roll 12. The front end 2a of the succeeding rolling material is stopped below the roll 4 and the front and rear ends 1a, 2a are superposed on each other. A stopper cylinder 9 and a rolling down cylinder 5 are cooperatively actuated by a command device 11 to press welds the ends 1a, 2a by a press welding die 7 and the roll 4. The succeeding rolling material 2 is detained by a stopper 8 and the preceding rolling material 1 is slid and moved by the roll 4 toward an arrow (a). The scale layers formed on the joint surfaces of the ends 1a, 2a are dug up by such sliding, by which the solid surfaces are joined to each other.
