PURPOSE:To obtain fine bright signal characteristics having no distortion at turning point, by sample-holding the output of special solid-state image pickup element separately every other frames and adding them by different ratio and making a band restriction and using them as the bright signal. CONSTITUTION:The output signal of a solid-state image pickup element signal which includes side band wave factors due to a modulation color signal is supplied to two sample hold circuits 2, 3, which hold the sample of every other frames each other. And by adding the outputs of the sample hold circuits 2, 3 with different ratios by an adder 10, the side band wave of the color modulation signal is offset. As a result, the side band wave generated inside the bright signal band, namely the distortion of the turning point, is eliminated, and it becomes possible to obtain the brightness signal the band of which is controlled to less than 1/2 of the central frequency of modulation color signal by a low pass filter 14.
