PURPOSE:To realize high speed strobe synchronization without shading, by providing a light emitter which starts emitting right after the shutter is fully opened and stop emitting light when the shutter is closed. CONSTITUTION:The light emitted from an object travels through lens 1A, 1B, iris 3 and shutter 6 and enters a solid-state image pickup element 7. A light measuring circuit 10 determines the shutter speed according to the signal issued from a light measuring system 14. When a sensor PS1 detect the full-open of the shutter, a shutter control circuit 11 causes a stroboscope 13 to emit the light. And when the start of shutter close is detected by a sensor PS2, the shutter control circuit forces the stroboscope 13 to stop the light emission. In this way, since the shutter does not start closing before the light diminuishes, the stroboscope synchronizing without shading is possible even solid-state image pickup element is used.
