PURPOSE:To obtain an instrument which enables a wide-angle display of a pointer and easy to manufacture, by combining currents flowing through first and second coils and third and fourth coils crossing at the right angle thereto separately to generate respective magnetic fields which approximates a sine wave and a cosine wave respectively. CONSTITUTION:A signal as variations in an object to be measured is applied from a sensor 20 to first and second coils 30 and 37 wound parallel with each other and third and fourth coils 42 and 49 crossing at the right angle thereto while wound parallel with each other. Then, first and second sine wave generators 22 and 23 are inserted each between the sensor 20 and the coils 30 and 37 and connected together to generate a magnetic field approximating a sine wave by combining currents flowing at each other's output terminal. First and second cosine wave generators 24 and 25 are inserted each between the sensor 20 and the coils 42 and 49 and connected together to generate a magnetic filed approximating a cosine wave by combining currents flowing at each other's output terminals. This enables a wide-angle display up to about 270 deg. of the pointer.
