PURPOSE:To prohibit the input of a forged fingerprint pattern in which an external light source is used and to prevent an unfair usage by mounting an object to be inspected on the transparent mounting surface, comparing the shading value of a pattern when the internal light source lights out, with the shading value stored at an image memory and deciding that the fingerprint is a forged one using the external light source when the values are dissident. CONSTITUTION:While a user seals a fingerprint on a plate glass 5 of a fingerprint input part 15, a control part 22 sends a control signal to a light source action control part 16, and lights out an internal light source 2 by the prescribed timing. A shading value of an optional point of the image of a uniform density obtained by an image pick-up camera 6 is detected by a light quantity detecting part 17, sent to the control part 22, compared with the shading value when the internal light source stored beforehand at an image memory 22, when both are dissident, it is judged that the forged fingerprint using the external light source is inputted, and the sealing of the fingerprint is requested again. When both are coincident, after the internal light source relights up and relights out repeatedly, collation is executed at the time of lighting-up and confirmation is performed again.
