PURPOSE:To prevent a movable column to which an electrical contact type gear change box is attached, from hindering the boarding and alighting of a passenger, by constituting the movable column so that it is extendable and retractable. CONSTITUTION:An electrical contact type gear change unit 10 is composed of a stationary column 11 fastened by screws at its base end to a instrument panel cover 40, and a movable column 12 telescopically and slidably fitted in the stationary column 11. A lock mechanism is disposed between the movable column and the stationary column. An electrical contact type gear change box 14 is composed of a change gear 33 and a gear box 32, and may control an electrical-penumatic pressure type speed change unit in accordance with the movement of the change lever 33.
