PURPOSE:To obtain an optical fiber which has superior waterproof characteristics and also has small disorder of an array of optical tape cores and small deterioration in transmission characteristics of optical fibers by laminating plural optical tape cores while applying a waterproof admixture over the surface of each optical tape core. CONSTITUTION:An optical tape core 5 formed by arraying optical fiber cores in a plane and coating them with a protection layer is supplied from a bobbin 12 and guided to a waterproof admixture charging device 7 which contains the waterproof admixture to coat the entire surface of the tape with the waterproof admixture 8. Then, respective optical tape cores 5 are laminated by a batten plate 14, pressed by a press winding device 15 and taped when necessary, and provided with an external sheath by an extrusion coating device 17 and taken up while aligned lengthwise by a metallic tape lengthwise aligning device 16.
