PURPOSE:To obtain silver providing flax cloth having a good feeling obtainable in good tone of reeling and weaving processes, by removing glutinous components such as lignin, pectin, etc., from flat fiber in a silver state and stopping the treatment in the state of fiber or cloth. CONSTITUTION:A bast part obtained by removing a woody part from raw herbage such as flax, etc., is scoured by a conventional procedure to give long bast fibers, which are used as a raw material. They are cut by the cutter 2 of the first process into given fiber length, and stirred and blended by the spiked lattice 5 in the tank 4. In the second process, a glutinous component such as lignin, pectin, etc., attached to the bast fibers, admixtures, and small fibers are removed mechanically from the fed cotton-like fiber belt 1c by the rotary cutting cylinder 7 and the rotary suction drum 8, to give the silver 1d having uniform fiber direction. Then, in the third process, washing with water and roller squeezing are repeated and the silver is immersed in an enzyme solution, so that remaining pectin and lignin are eluted and removed.
