PURPOSE:To improve the wire drawing workability into a super extra fine wire by heat-treating a wire rod under the temp. conditions where recrystallization does not take place during the cold wire drawing state. CONSTITUTION:The wire rod such as an annealed copper wire, etc., produced via forging and hot rolling is cold worked into the super extra fine wire with <=50mum diameter. During this cold wire drawing stage, the wire rod after wire drawing is subjected to heat treatment once or more under the temp. conditions where perfect recrystallization does not take place. Also heat treatment is preferably carried out so that the tensile strength of the wire rod after the treatment is 70-99.5% as compared with that before treatment. By this heat treatment, excellent wire drawing workability can be obtained even after heating.
