PURPOSE:To simplify a Japanese sentence input system and to decrease the memory capacity of a conversion processing program, by providing a processing function which is capable of the KANA (Japanese syllabary)/KANJI (Chinese character) conversion for each syllable and the KANA/KANJI conversion for each sentence to a memory means. CONSTITUTION:The KANA character strings supplied from an input means 1 for each syllable or each sentence are stored in a RAM4 via a control means containing a microprocessor unit 3. An indication is given to a conversion table 5 to convert the KANA character strings of the RAM4 into the character strings including KANJI. Thus it is checked whether the input KANA character strings is equal to a paragraph or not. Then the KANA/KANJI conversion is carried out directly through the table 5 when it is decided that those input KANA character strings are equal to a paragraph. While the KANA/KANJI conversion is carried out after a paragraph is extracted through the table 5 with an input character string longer than a paragraph. Thus a character string including KANJI is displayed by a display means 2. This can simplify a Japanese sentence input system and also decrease the memory capacity of a conversion processing program.
