PURPOSE:To produce a sufficient driving power even during a decrease in a battery voltage, by a method wherein two exciting coils of an electric motor in a titled device are shifted to parallel connection or series connection depending upon magnitude of a voltage level applied on the motor. CONSTITUTION:An actuator device 1 is provided for positioning a fuel regulating member 3 of a fuel injection pump 2 in response to a driving current I from a control unit 80, and drives the fuel regulating member 3 through a link 7 by means of an output from a linear motor 6. The linear motor 6 is constituted such that an exciting winding part 11, formed by superposing exciting coils 12 and 13 with a bobbin 14 for winding, is located vertically movably in a cylindrical magnet 10. The exciting coils 12 and 13 can be shifted to parallel connection or series connection by a shifting device 81, and a control device 82 controls the device 81 so that, when the level of a voltage for driving applied on the linear motor 6 is below a given value, the exciting coils are shifted to parallel connection, and when exceeding the given value, the exciting coils to series connection.
