PURPOSE:To prevent driving property and warming-up property from lowering by providing an air-fuel ratio adjusting means which adjusts air-fuel ratio by receiving the outputs of a combustion speed detecting means and a load detecting means, and an air-fuel ratio correcting means which corrects air-fuel ratio. CONSTITUTION:By measuring time at which flame is transmitted from an ignition plug 9 to an ion sensor 10, combustion speed is detected by means of an engine control unit 11. A load is detected by an air flow meter 4 and a crank angle sensor 13. The engine control unit 11 controls air-fuel ratio properly based on the combustion speed. Thereby, driving property and warming-up property can be prevented from lowering when the temperature of intake air or an engine is low.
