PURPOSE:To prevent effectively the generation of pits by providing Al to the inside of a flux and to a steel sheath and using the Al as a nitrogen fixing agent to perform stably deoxidation and denitrification. CONSTITUTION:In a flux-cored wire for self-shielded arc welding, a steel sheath incorporates at least 10% of the total Al-content of the whole wire, as a plating material and/or an alloy material. And also, a flux containing 2.0-14% metallic fluoride, 0.6-3.0% Al, 0.3-3.0% Mg respectively, is filled in the sheath by the amount of 10-30% the total weight of wire. In this way, a flux-cored wire for self-shielded arc welding excellent in resistance to pit and operability is obtained.
