PURPOSE:To lengthen a connecting wire of welding and lower the rate of breaking of wire by cutting connecting end parts of steel tapes in parallel and at a specified angle to perpendicular line in longitudinal direction of steel tapes and welding them when connecting the rear end of a preceding steel tape and the front end of succeeding steel tape. CONSTITUTION:The rear end of a preceding steel tape 1A for manufacturing a welding wire and the front end of succeeding steel tape 1B are cut parallel at angles of 10 deg.-80 deg. to a perpendicular line in longitudinal direction of steel tapes 1A, 1B. The preceding steel tape 1A and succeeding steel tape 1B are connected by welding the cut ends. Thus, the rate of breaking of wire can be lowered remarkably than before, and productivity of flux-cored welding wires can be improved.
