PURPOSE:To prevent the breakage of glass in the bonding of magnetic head, e.g. bonding of glass to both faces of a Sendust, by compounding SiO2, B2O3, ZnO and an alkali metal oxide at specific ratios. CONSTITUTION:The objective composition contains 50-70mol% SiO2, 0-6mol% B2O3, 8-15mol% ZnO and 18-25mol% alkali metal oxide, as main components. The linear expansion coefficient of the above glass composition is >=125X10<-7>. The composition may contain MgO, CaO, BaO, SrO, etc. in addition to the above main components. The R of the above alkali metal oxide (R2O) is e.g. Li, Na, K, Cs, Rb, etc.
