PURPOSE:To decrease the size of an optical path system and to run a running system stably by designing the titled reader that a reflected light from an original is reflected continuously for many number of times through the original path between two opposed reflection mirrors placed in parallel. CONSTITUTION:A lamp 5 to expose an original 3, reflection mirrors 8, 9, 10, a coupling lens 12 and an image pickup element 13 are fixed for the position and contained in a photoelectric conversion box 6 and the box 6 is moved horizontally to the left and right to the original platen 2 by a guide shaft 7. Then the original 3 is placed to the original platen 2, fixed by an original retainer 4, the lamp 5 is lighted to start reading. The reflected light from the original face is made incident into the opposed reflection mirrors 9, 10 in parallel through the reflection mirror 8 and after the light is reflected continuously for many number of times between the mirrors 9 and 10, the light is reflected in the reflection mirror 11 and read by the image pickup element 13 via the coupling lens 12.
