摘要 PURPOSE:To obtain a sharp color picture image whose color repeatability is improved with a simple constitution by spiltting respective complementary color signals white W, green G, cyan Cy and yellow Ye, which are included by each scan line signal and forming two kinds of color difference signals at every scan line after gamma correction is applied to the split signals. CONSTITUTION:The n-th scan line obtains alternately the W and G signals at every picture element from an output signal available from a solid-state image pickup element 1, and the (n+1)th scan line can alternately obtain the Cy and Ye signals at every picture element. The output signal is supplied to two separator circuits 17 and 18. The split signal is then supplied to two amplitude adjusters 20, which adjust the magnitude of the split complementary color signals W, G, Cy and Ye so as to normarize them alternately in the state where a chromatic color is image-picked up. Then the complementary color signals W, G, Cy and Ye whose amplitudes are normalized are supplied to gamma correcting circuits 23 and 24 to execute the gamma correction. A subtractor 25 forms two kinds of color difference signals from the outputs of the gamma correcting circuits 23 and 24 at every scan line.
