PURPOSE:To obtain an electrophotographic sensitive body high in lubricity and hardness on the surface, hardly subject to scratching, and abrasion, etc., due to friction with a blade and copying papers, and high in cleanability by forming a thin film made of Ta2O5 on the surface of the photosensitive body as an overcoat. CONSTITUTION:A photoconductive layer 12 made of a photoconductor, such as an Se type, a CdS type, or an OPC type of an org. photo conductor bound with a binder is formed on a conductive substrate to form the elec trophotographic sensitive body, and the thin overcoat layer 14 made of Ta2O5 high in hardness and lubricity if formed in a thickness of 0.05-5 mum directly on the layer 12 by the vapor deposition method or the like, or in the case of the OPC type photoconductor, the second inorganic overcoat layer 13 made of Al2O3, SiC, or TiO2, is inserted between the layers 12 and 14, thus permitting the layer 14 to be formed in a thickness thin enough not to deteriorate transpar ency, and the obtained photosensitive body to be developed without fog and deterioration of photosensitivity and enhanced in durability. |
