PURPOSE:To eliminate a d.c. breaker, by adding a gate to a power converter, connecting the converter to a d.c. powering bus, connecting a power inverter to a d.c. regenerative bus, and utilizing gate control and diode reverse-blocking characteristics of the converter and the inverter. CONSTITUTION:A power source 14 and a high-voltage distribution load 12 are connected to an a.c. bus 13. A converter 7A with a gate and an inverter 8 are also connected through a.c. breakers 15A and 16A to the a.c. bus 13. Negative poles of the converter 7A and the inverter 8 are connected through d.c. reactors 19 and 20 to a negative pole bus 21 leading to rails. Positive poles of the converter 7A and the inverter 8 are connected to a powering bus 9A and a regenerative bus 9B, respectively. The powering bus 9A is connected through diodes 3A-6A and disconnectors 15-18 to feeders 10A, 10B, 11A and 11B to supply power to the feeders. The feeders are connected through the disconnectors 15-18 and diodes 3B-6B to the regenerative bus 9B to regenerate a regenerative power.
