PURPOSE:To simplify a necessary circuit for such process as digitalization of video signal, etc., by a single-dimension processing of the measured video signal by projection on a projection axis on a color space provided with the co-ordinate oxes of 3 colors, i.e. red, green and blue. CONSTITUTION:An incident ray collected by a lens 1 is divided into 3 colors, rd, green and blue by a two-color mirrors 2, 3 and the colored rays are transmitted to image pick-up elements, 4R, 4G, 4B for each color. Each image signal XR, XG, XB of red, green and blue color converted to an electric signal by element 4R, 4G and 4B respectively is multiplied by coefficient ar, ag, ab respectively by each of coefficient multiplying circuits 5R, 5G, 5B and these signals are added by an adding circuit 6. This represents determination of a projected video signal on one of the projection axes of the tri-color co-ordinate axes as a linear function of the video signal of 3 colours. Thus, by processing the projected video signal by a processing circuit 7, the digitalizing process can easily be performed.
