PURPOSE:To make an assembling operation easy by supporting with a stopper capable of easily being fixed to a shaft an end of a spring provided in the shaft for slidably guiding a carriage of an FDD. CONSTITUTION:Initially, an inner diameter of a stopper 30 is fitted into a shaft 8 and directly pressed into to engage a protrusion 30a of the inner diameter section of the stopper 30 with a groove 8a of a shaft 8 and fix the shaft 8 ad the stopper 30. Under this condition, when a pressing spring 29, a collar 31 and a protruding section 9 of a carriage 3 are successively inserted into the shaft 8, on mounting the carriage 3 to a chassis, it is not required that the pressing spring 29 is pressed by hand. When fastening screws 24, 25, only three parts of the carriage 3, shafts 6 and 8 are pressed by one hand. Thereby, it is not necessary to support an end section of the pressing spring 29 directly by fingers and an installation and an assembling are extremely easy.
