PURPOSE:To obtain the titled product having high surface hardness and excellent abrasion resistance, scratch resistance, solvent resistance, etc., by using a gas for forming a plasma-polymerized film and containing a compound comprising a specific combination of a (halogenated) alkane, hydrogen and a halogen. CONSTITUTION:The objective product can be produced by forming a plasma- polymerized film of >=2,000 Angstrom thick on the surface of a rigid plastic product placed in a plasma-polymerization reaction zone, using one or more monomer compounds selected from (A) a halogenated alkane (preferably difluoromethane, etc.), (B) an alkane (preferably 1-4C alkane such as methane), (C) hydrogen and (D) a halogen (preferably Cl or F) in a combination of A (excluding the case that A is perhaloalkane), A-(B, C or D), A-B-(C or D), A-C-D, A-B-C-D, B-D or B-C-D, wherein the ratio of atomic number of halogen/H is 0.1-5.
