PURPOSE:To attain the quick and stable positioning control of a head by using a variable gain control means for reference amount between an upper device and the target position of transfer. CONSTITUTION:A position signal (3) is turned into a real speed signal (1) by a speed signal producing circuit 2 and supplied to a differential amplifier 4. At the same time, a reference speed signal (2') is also supplied to the amplifier 4 from a reference speed signal producing circuit 3 via an amplifier 7. The difference between both signals (1) and (2') is obtained and a drive motor 6 is driven via a power amplifier 5. Here a variable gain means consists of amplifiers 7-8, a transistor TR, etc. The difference amount (4) sent from an upper device is stored in a register 11 to give an access to a memory 10. This memory 10 stores previously the data with which the optimum positioning control is possible according to the amount (4). The TR is controlled by said data stored in the memory 10 and the signal (2') is obtained according to the amount (4).
