PURPOSE:To delete the capacity of a memory by providing an index to top 'YOMI' (Japanese equivalent to a 'KANJI'), a data length storing section storing a capacity of a reading after the second character and a 'KANJI' (Chinese character) notation in a word length, a reading storing section of 'YOMI' after the second character and a 'KANJI' notation storing section. CONSTITUTION:'YOMI' of a single 'KANJI' dictionary continuing a conventional index and 'YOMI' sections of a 'KANJI' notation storing have a variable length as 111-114 and a compression of the 'YOMI' section is planned. 11 shows a construction of the 'YOMI' section storing 'YOMI' after the second character by two character unit by using 1 byte code. The storing is done by word unit, so that if the number of a 'YOMI' characters is n, in the case of n being an even number, the 'YOMI' section of n/2 word is required and in the case of n being an odd number, the 'YOMI' section of (n+1)/2 word is required. When the number of the 'YOMI' characters is an odd number, as shown in 111 and 113, at the last 'YOMI' section of 1 byte, the number separate from a code indicating the 'YOMI', for instance, '0' is set. 12 shows the 'KANJI' notation section next to the 'YOMI' section and indicates the 'KANJI' character notation section wherein the 'KANJI' notation corresponding to the 'YOMI' is stored by 2 byte code and a character having the homonym is continuously stored.
