PURPOSE:To cool the engine with fresh cooling water by providing a fresh water cooler to the outerboard but drive unit. CONSTITUTION:The out drive unit 11 is comprised of an upper case 12 and a lower case 13 to fix the bearing case 14 projecting from the upper case 12 while projecting from the stern 15 into the hull. The input shaft 16 penetrating through the bearing case 14 is coupled to the innerboard engine side. Furthermore, a cavitation plate 19 projecting to the rear of the drive shaft 17 is provided to the lower case 13 immediately above the propeller 20 while a cavity section 21 contacting with said plate 19 is formed above said plate 19 and a fresh water cooler 22 is arranged in the cavity section 21. Consequently, the outlet tube 23 and the inlet tube 24 of the fresh water cooler 22 will project upward from the lower case 13 and coupled respectively through the hoses 25, 25 to the engine side thus to circulate the fresh water of engine to said fresh water cooler 22.
