PURPOSE:To slide rotary magnetic heads on a magnetic tape more stably by forming holes, which are connected to the outside of a rotary drum and are connected to the internal space of the rotary drum, between respective pairs of rotary magnetic heads on the outside peripheral surface of the rotary drum. CONSTITUTION:Many perforations are formed radially throughout in the same level as rotary magnetic heads 21 and 22 and between rotary magnetic heads 31 and 32 on the outside peripheral surface of a rotary drum 14. When the drum 14 is rotated in a high speed, the air forming an air film 28 penetrates continuously a recessed part 20 through perforations 27, and the pressure of a part of the film 28 facing perforations 27 is reduced, and a part of the surface of a tape 5 corresponding to a low pressure part 28a is recessed, and the part between heads 21 and 31 is formed to a recessed part 5a, and the recessed part 5a and its upper and lower parts are drawn to approach the outside peripheral surface of the drum 14 and are brought into contact with heads 21 and 31 surely. The magnetic tape is brought into contact with heads 22 and 32 similarly, and thus, these heads are slided on the magnetic tape 5 stably.
