PURPOSE:To make easy the generation and maintenance of a high vacuum by hardening a brazing filler metal by heating after vacuum suction then supplying an oxygen-mixed inert gas into a brazing device. CONSTITUTION:Degreased and cleaned Al parts are assembled and fixed to a jig and the assembly is installed in a vacuum brazing furnace. The inside of the furnace is evacuated to a vacuum and is then subjected to heating followed by cooling. The vacuum vessel is moved to a vacuum chamber for a surface treatment into which an oxygen-mixed inert gas is introduced. The vacuum vessel is cooled down to about 100 deg.C in the chamber. The oxygen-mixed inert gas is supplied and cooled after the hardening of the brazing filler metal and therefore the inside surface of the vessel does not contact with the atm. contg. moisture. The dense oxide film which does not contain moisture is thus formed on the inside surface of the vessel and the adsorption of a material, etc. which hinder the increase of the degree of vacuum is obviated. The genera tion and maintenance of the high vacuum in the vessel is made easy by the above-mentioned method.
