PURPOSE:To prevent misoperations of keys so that operating speed and working efficiency can be improved by providing a variable-character displaying means on the key top of a keyboard and changing displayed by operating a shift key or mode key. CONSTITUTION:Liquid crystal or LEDs are assembled in the top of keys 1 and 8 on a keyboard and a selected character set is displayed by depressing a shift key 4, alphabet mode key 2 and Kana (Japanese syllabary) mode key 3. When foot switches 5 and 6 for conversion are operated, a selected character set is also displayed in the same manner.
