PURPOSE:To attain the reading, writing and collation of information written on a magnetic card just through a single inserting action of the card and to attain a compact structure of a recording/reproducing device, by using one of both magnetic heads to read and write information of the card information and the other head for generation of clock signals and collation of the card information respectively. CONSTITUTION:When a magnetic card 2 is put into a main body 1 through a card slit 3, the 1st magnetic head 8 and then the 2nd magnetic head 13 are pressed by the card 2. Thus the card 2 undergoes both reading and writing processes. The arms 7 and 11 are supported by projected parts 5 and 12 respectively and therefore both heads 8 and 13 can be oscillated to process satisfactorily even a deformed card 2. When both heads 8 and 13 are pressed by the card 2, the head 8 reads the clock signals sent from the card 2. Then the head 13 reads and writes the information based on said clock signals. This writing information is read by the head 8 for collation.
