PURPOSE:To enable to shift and load sheets securely, even though they are curled, on an exhaust tray, by furnishing a sheet shift device to shift sheets to be delivered on an intermediate tray selectively in about rectangular direction. CONSTITUTION:When sheets from cassettes 301 or 302, through an image processing part 314 and a fixation part 316, are loaded with the image side upward, a flapper 317 is turned rightward against a spring, and sheets are exhausted directly through an exhaust roller 326. On the other hand, when sheets are turned over and assorted, the flapper 317 is positioned vertical, sheets are slided along the inner surface of the flapper 317, bitten between a squeezing roller 318 and a turn over roller 319, and delivered to a loading tray 323 through rollers 321 and 322. In this case, when the rear end of the sheet is detected by a sensor 324, a solenoid is excited to activate a shift lever 333 to shift the sheet laterally, and at the same time, the roller 321 is driven reversely, to load the sheet by an exhaust roller 326 onto an exhaust tray 327, with the image side facing downward.
