PURPOSE:To obtain a gorgeous and durable coated film by forming a desired rugged pattern on the substrate to be coated in a pearl tone and providing a pearl-toned coat layer so that the rugged pattern remains. CONSTITUTION:In the coating to form a colorful pearl-toned coated film, a base coating material for undercoating is coated on a wall surface 1 to form a substrate 3 having a rugged pattern on the surface. Then a pearl-toned coating matching to the color of the substrate is applied to the upper surface of the substrate 3 to form a coat layer 4 on which the rugged pattern 2 of the substrate 3 is made almost to remain. Consequently, a shade pattern is provided to the pearl-toned surface gloss of the coated film depending on the lines of light and sight, hence the pearl tone is varied, gorgeousness is enhanced and the resistance to weather and water is improved.
