PURPOSE:To improve S/N and heighten reliability of a servo signal by making the width of a servo head core larger than the track pitch of a servo signal. CONSTITUTION:As the core width T2 of a head 1 is larger than track pitch Tf, Vo, Ve do not become zero at any position a-c of the head. The fact that these are not zero means that the device is more resistant to noise compared with conventional technique, i.e. less influenced by N, Ne in the expression. Further. values of Vo, Ve become larger by enlarged core width of the head 1 and the value of Pv is obtained at higher accuracy. Improvement in accuracy of position signals, improvement in accuracy of positioning, improvement in track density and increase of storage capacity are made possible by obtaining the difference of larger ones.
